We have to tell you…this one has been a long time coming. Sally and Josie have searched for an oval wood blank for years and kept running into the same problem. There was a big gap in the market for an oval blank that felt high-quality and truly made for delicate compositions. This has been a dream product for them for quite some time, and we’re so happy to finally bring it to your craft table.

With its generous 12.7" x 15.7" scale and recessed profile, it’s built for dimension and framing—perfect for mould borders and embellished details. Create an ornate oval frame with moulds like Wreath & Swags, Faux Bois, Trimmings 1–3, Acanthus, Swags, Olive Crest, Classic Elements, Dainty Flourishes, and Primitive. Emphasize those raised details with dark wax or a touch of gilding.

For the center, choose a favorite IOD Transfer or Paint Inlay and style it as a wall plaque, a mixed media addition to your gallery wall, or add vintage brass handles to the sides to create a bespoke tray.

Our IOD Arched Wood Gallery Blank is inspired by the niches found in Romanesque and Gothic Architecture. These decorative recesses were typically set into a wall to display a statue, vase, or other valuable object.

This product is 11”x16” with an arched top, with two levels of recess, perfect for building intricate and elaborate borders with IOD moulds. Some perfect moulds for borders include Faux Bois, Trimmings 1, 2, and 3, Acanthus, Swags, Primitive, Dainty Flourishes, Olive Crest, and Classic Elements…to name a few.
